Outrageously Innovative
The Wolf Von Langa Son is a 2-way speaker with Air Motion Transformer, Jet tweeter made by Mundorf using WVL’s specifications. It features a Field-Coil Current Controlled woofer and a passive high-strength aluminium radiator operating according to Helmholtz Resonator Principle. The cabinet is made with a double-sided PMMA coating (a type of organic glass) and is available in ultra-gloss white, ultra-gloss black and Bamboo Veneer.

Bass Loaded
Mounted in the SON is the WVL AC-2676 Field-Coil Driver with an effective cone diameter of 258mm (a woofer size of nearly 11inches). It’s built from Wolf Von Langa’s own hydrophobic paper that makes it very stiff but light.
The massive field coil driver uses an underhung voice coil that’s wound with a copper coated flat aluminum wire. Rather than the usual metal cage that most drivers are screwed into, it’s attached to a massive 40cm x 40cm slab of aluminum. Internal struts and bracing has ensured that the driver remains wobble free and very sturdy, transferring its incredible bass energy into the room.
The drivers have a continuous efficiency of 95 db with a continuous power handling of 150 watts and a high 1500 watts peak compatibility (for 10 ms).
Electric Precision
The Air Motion Transformer tweeters are actually mounted a translucent acoustically inert material that is almost free floating! This is also set in a beautiful open baffle acrylic structure that can be positioned freely on top of the speaker for further tuning. This is joined to the speaker cabinets via powerful magnets that do not affect the sound of the drivers and allow for very precise tuning.
Most tweeters use a permanent magnet that has been charged once. However, the WVL loudspeakers are made with the use of electromagnets that are charged by an external unit, making some of the strongest magnets available. Being controlled dynamically and not statically, means a precision that pushes the boundaries of what is sonically possible.
